Introduction
Polyglot gambit is a 2d, space shooter, asteroid-like, arcade, vectory
game with bullet time. It fits in the gaming continuum between
Geometry Wars and Max Payne. It was written by Matthew "Mister" Fister and Mark "Danger" Cerritelli
and it is free and open.
Story
Mankind's worst
nightmares of the horrors of space paled in comparison with the
terrible truth that was discovered. Horrible squares of antimatter
drift through space on a collision course with Earth - and
disaster! As time ran out, the brightest space scientists of
Earth devised a plan. A Polyglot Combat Ship (PCS) was
launched with a powerful rail cannon and an experimental quantum drive.
It is up to the brave hyperpilot to save the world in the most
dangerous mission out of this world, The Polyglot Gambit. When
all hope is lost, you must believe in the one thing you never believed
in before - yourself.
Instructions
Polyglot Gambit is controlled with one hand on the keyboard in the WASD region and the other on
the mouse. The PCS will always face the mouse pointer.
Holding down the left mouse button will launch a volley from the
rail cannon. Shoot it at the hyper-colored anti-matter squares.
Once all squares are destroyed, another wave will approach.
The WASD keys will accelerate the PCS in their respective
directions. The E key will activate the quantum drive, slowing
all enemies. Tap it once to activate it and once more to deactivate. Save this for dire situations, as use of the quantum
drive depletes quantum fuel that can only be replenished by destroying
more antimatter cubes. Your score is shown in the bottom left of
the screen. Next to it is the remaining quantum fuel. Finally the remaining number of reserve ships is shown.
Next Steps
The next step for Polyglot Gambit development will be fancier special effects, then sounds, then more types of enemies.
GOOD LUCK HYPERPILOT
